Port Credit 175th Anniversary

1835-2010

Celebrating our Heritage, Pride and Future!

Port Credit was one happening, fun and informative place to be in 2010.  Port Credit has just celebrated a milestone birthday -- 175 years!

We had such an exciting year.  The Port Credit 175th Anniversary Committee is grateful to all the community organizations who ran their own PC175 events and the many, many volunteers who supported all the projects and helped us celebrate throughout 2010!

A rotation of historical and contemporary photos and upcoming event posters provided by so many organizations were featured on our website Splash Page and are now archived in the Calendar of PC175 Events

The Port Credit 175th Anniversary Executive Committee would like to extend a special thank you to all the Grant Partners, Sponsors, Team Leaders, Volunteers and the Community for making the PC175 so successful and memorable!

Our final PC175 event was the Time Capsule Dedication in the renovated lobby of the Port Credit Arena on Sat. April 30,  2011 @ 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  Click for full-size FLYER.

PC175 COMMEMORATIVE VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE:
Commissioned by the Port Credit 175th Anniversary Committee, Gabriella Bank of Sanborg Productions has prepared a commemorative video which reviews the entire PC175 year (2010) which took place thanks to all the local team leaders and the hundreds of volunteers who enabled thousands of participants.  From Skating to Cycling to Walking, from Music to Public Art, from Fishing to Photography, from Parades to Heritage, from Gardens to Theatre, it's all there, set to the top songs in the PC175 Theme Song Contest (CD available for $5).

The video is divided into: Part 1 (11:52); Part 2 (7:48); Part 3 (7:15).

VIDEO PROJECT:  In December 2010, a special video project was completed thanks to Gabriella Bank, a local (award-winning) video producer who is also working on the PC175 Anniversary video to commemorate our amazing year-long celebration throughout 2010.

This 7-minute video was written by Jayme Gaspar (raised in Port Credit), Executive Director of Heritage Mississauga, and narrated by Port Credit's Eric Gibson, past president of the Mississauga South Historical Society.

Our community is enriched through collective understanding of our long and ongoing story.  Click video below for an exploration of the last 175 years (and more) through historic photos and illustrations.
