Port Credit 175th Anniversary

1835-2010

Time Capsule Project

A great souvenir from the 2010 celebrations will be the Time Capsule to be dedicated after the end of the 175th Anniversary year and lodged securely within the new Lobby of the Port Credit Arena, once it fully re-opens to the public in Spring 2011.

The Official Arena Re-Opening Ceremony and Time Capsule Dedication will be held Sat. April 30, 2011 @ 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  FREE EVENT which will include the official re-opening ceremonies for the newly-renovated Arena.  Free Refreshments, SKATING and entertainment.  Click for full-size FLYER Click for City press release.

The Arena underwent extensive renovations during 2010 and early 2011; the City's design team has taken the initiative to incorporate the Time Capsule niche (click for PHOTOS, courtesy of the City of Mississauga).

Because the Arena is a designated Heritage site, and soon to become an even more integral part of our community life (with the new meeting rooms), we can't think of a better place to ensure that the Time Capsule has a permanent and visible place in our community.  We also want to be able to find the Capsule for the 200th Anniversary celebration in 2035!

Above: In December 2010, the time capsule was tested in the new niche
built into the renovated lobby of the Port Credit Arena.  Click image for

Size: The stainless steel capsule which will hold all the artifacts from the year 2010 is 12 inches in diameter x 36 inches long.  Think of the possibilities....
